The Renewal Series

A holistic approach to clearer skin, featuring Face Reality peels · Tribeca, NYC

If you've tried everything and your skin still isn't clearing, you're not doing it wrong. Breakouts are shaped by your skin, your hormones, stress, sleep, diet and the products you use every day. The Renewal Peel Series looks at all of it, then treats your skin gently and consistently, every two weeks, with a home routine you can actually keep.

Led by a Face Reality Certified Acne Specialist.

Understanding your skin

We start with a consultation, because the right plan depends on knowing what's really happening. Your first visit is extended to allow time for this before your first treatment. We'll look closely at your skin and talk through your history: past treatments and medications, your current products, your cycle and hormones, stress and sleep, diet, and anything that seems to trigger a flare-up. We'll also check every product you use for pore-clogging ingredients, which hide in far more cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreens and makeup than most people realize.

Just as important, we look for acne imposters: conditions that look like breakouts but need an entirely different approach. Treating them like acne can make them worse, which is often why skin doesn't respond.

Rosacea. Redness, flushing and small red bumps, often with sensitivity or stinging, but without the clogged pores of true acne.

Fungal folliculitis. Small, uniform, often itchy bumps around the hair follicles, caused by yeast rather than congestion.

Perioral dermatitis. A bumpy, irritated rash around the mouth and nose, frequently triggered by heavy creams or steroid products.

Milia and keratosis pilaris. Tiny, firm white bumps or rough texture from trapped keratin. They aren't acne, and they won't respond to acne products.

If anything we see is better treated by a dermatologist, we'll tell you honestly and gladly work alongside them.

Your treatment plan

Once we understand your skin, we build a plan around it. You'll come in every two weeks, the rhythm that matches how acne-prone skin renews, so each visit meets your skin where it is.

Each session includes a professional peel from Face Reality or iS Clinical, chosen for your skin that day. These peels use blends of mandelic, lactic, salicylic and other acids to loosen congestion, calm inflammation, fade post-breakout marks and smooth texture. We begin gently and increase strength only when your skin is ready. Extractions are done carefully where needed, and every session ends with cryo globes and a cooling mask to soothe redness.

Most clients notice a real change around six weeks, with the clearest results by the end of a full series.

Caring for your skin at home

What you do between visits matters most. We'll build a simple routine, morning and night, using only what your skin needs. It won't be a twelve-step regimen. Products are introduced gradually so your skin can adjust without irritation, and we refine your routine at every visit as your skin changes.

We'll also share small, realistic lifestyle changes that support clearer skin, like what to look for in your makeup and sunscreen, how certain foods and supplements can affect breakouts, and why changing your pillowcase matters. No strict rules, just guidance that fits your life.

What to expect

Peels feel like a light tingle and warmth, and most clients go straight back to their day, with mild flaking for a few days after. In the first few weeks, older congestion forming beneath the surface may come up as your skin clears. It's a normal, temporary part of the process, and we'll guide you through it. Acne can be managed beautifully, but it isn't cured once; the goal is clear, calm skin and the knowledge to keep it that way.

Questions

How many sessions will I need?

Most skin responds best to a series of six, one every two weeks. Milder congestion or texture may only need three. We'll recommend what's right for you at your consultation.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin or darker skin tones?

Yes. Peels are customized at every visit and suited to all skin types and tones. We always begin gently.

How should I prepare?

Come with a clean face, or let us remove your makeup, and bring a list or photos of the products you use. Pause retinoids and at-home exfoliants for five to seven days before, and avoid waxing the area for three days before and after.

Can I combine it with other treatments?

Yes. Laser Genesis pairs well for redness and acne scarring once active breakouts have calmed. We'll time your treatments so they work together.

Can I have a peel while pregnant or nursing?

We don't perform peels during pregnancy or while nursing. Reach out and we'll recommend a treatment that's right for you.
